Advantages and Disadvantages of Bottle Babies 

Advantages

·         Bottle fed babies bond very much to people.  They think they are people and will stay that way throughout their life and will prefer People Company to goats if they have an option. 

·         You can receive your pygmy goat sooner usually within the first 2-3 days as opposed to waiting till they are weaned which is usually takes 6-8 weeks.

·         Closeness they need to be in the house for several weeks ina play pen usually works very well unless they have a companion and are kept in a dry secure place.

Disadvantages

·         They need to be fed every day on a schedule which is usually 8, 12, 4, 8.  They usually sleep through the night

·         It takes them longer to learn to eat hay and grain as they do not have their mother to show them and imitate.

·         When you get your weaned babies you need to put them in a small area and love and hold them a lot to get them people friendly. 

·         Bottle babies are not dehorned or if a wether fixed.  You need to bring them back when they are old enough or have someone in your local area take care of it.
